The Stockholm District of the Association of the Hard of Hearing is a league of associations and special interest groups for persons with impaired hearing within Stockholm County.

The Stockholm District was founded 1969 and is a politically independent non-profit interest organization. The object of the District is to take care in every way of the interests of persons with impaired hearing - based on the idea of all people's equal worth - to claim jointly the right to participation and equality in all areas, through activities of the associations, informational and educational work for increased knowledge of hearing impairment, safe communication and fellowship, the prevention of hearing impairment and the cooperation with other organizations working for the interests of the disabled.

:We want that

- the waiting time to get a hearing-aid and other assistive devices disappears

- all theatres, cinemas and other public buildings have a functional induction loop

- all TV programmes have subtitles

- persons with impaired hearing are given better possibilities for work and education

- more resources are allocated to combat the problems of noise

- the activities of associations contribute to the breaking down of the segregation of the hearing-impaired
